Saturday night the expertbase version 1.0 will be launched. The evening starts with the presentation of the expertbase and a short introduction of its pratical usage and is followed by a discussion. Experts from different fields are discussing: artists, union activists, people from refugee-supporting groups, scientist and antiracist activists. They are discussing the chances, possiblities but also limitations that the expert base may have.
the value of the expertbase will only be its use: how people, who are
discriminated in their access to ressources, will be able to use this as
a tool in order to get more and easier access e.g to jobs. one thing is
for sure though: the expertbase will not be used, unless it'll be
promoted by us. depending on the promotion and on who is involved in the
realization of the project, we'll reach the people we want to or not.
the expertbase has different aspects and options to develop to:
(1) expertbase as an artist project to promote "everyone is an expert"
an with that to adress the issue of free access for everyone. within
that, the central idea is to stress the picture of "number". "your
number is your password" is pointing out the absurdity of the public
discussion concerning migration.
(2) expertbase as a connection base. it could include the chance and the
ressources to be used by different local groups, in order to connect, to
support and to communicate. in that way, people or organizations may
relate to each other and support each other. for that an installation of
chatrooms or instant messaging tools might be necessary.
(3) expertbase as a presentation space for media/educational projects.
For instance exhibitions, portraits of migrants or similar projects that
adress the issue of migration.
(4) expertbase as a service-exchange base. activists can support each
other more effectivly and exchange services or skills: e.g.grafic
designer looks for plitical project or vice versa.
besides that, expertbase needs to link or connect the expertbase with
projects that are working offline in that field.
the expertbase is an open source project, or rather: an open expert
project, with no payment or whatsoever for information or usage. the
expertbase is not controlled. evryone decides, which data to put up and
which not. therefore, the people who are starting it (we), should never
become an agency or an organization. they should introduce and promote
it, warn people about the risks and then let it go. the warnings or
hints have o include: headhunters wanring, a list of bad employees
(feedback option needed in order to set it up), problems, adresses where
one can find help.
we also think, this project will only function, if it's related to other
projects or campaigns e.g the access project of the brandenburger
fluechtlingsinitiative.
but in the end, this is an innovation and will has chacnes as well as
risks, that will only be visible in its full amount whence we started it
and for that we'll go for: try and error. ;-)
