L: i will talk about russian internet and its role in
russian culture.
describing the history of internet:
i would say that there are enought nouns and adjektives,
we need some more verbs. the first analogy of the history
of the previous century and the internet.
the invention of cinematography.
are quite obvious
we now that reality is constructed by the mind,
1895 cinematography was invented.
the basic metaphor for the cinema was "dream"
the basic metaphor for the internet is "addiction"

cinema was considered as a mass culture and technology
- similar to the internet
lenin said that the most important art for

the difference:
cinematography is one of the most undemocratic arts, it‚s not
possible to participate, even a newspaper is more democratic,
at least you can write a letter to the editor.
on the internet there is no difference between
the speaker and the listener, so it was democratic from the beginning.
as a global net the internets presenting different
cultural backgrounds and different circumstances of usage.
the internet appeared when the "virtual reality" became
a common place.
the beginning the internet was a humogenous
in language, that means the used language was english
romantic isolation - enlightment
in the period of universilation, normally one
cultur sets its standards, in our example mainly the
north american
lets compare different cultural segments
of the internet, different national segments.
the russion internet is often called the runet
ru= russian + net = internet == "are you net"
the expension of the internet depends on technical and
political circumstances ...
the user who joined the net in 1995 and the user who joint it three
years later are from a different generation ...
internet is a reading culture ...
the factor for the expansion of a russian net:
first of all the technical factor: the demand of the
market ... the motivating factor... the economical factor
the cultural factor ...
the political factor, the internet is becoming such an important factor in life,
that politicians become interested in it ...
the internet started in the u.s.s.r. in 1990,
with an organisation called glasnet (glasnost)

was searching outside russia for contents and inside russia
